The Space

The Space is an extracurricular arts school and theatre company that services the Windsor-Essex area of Ontario.

We provides a safe and encouraging venue to learn crafts in dramatic, performing and visual arts.

Though our focus is on theatre and the benefits of drama, our mandate remains developing a life long passion for the arts across all disciplines.

Karen Mossman
B.A (Honours), B.ED, OCT
Founder/Executive Director

Karen Mossman taught in the public school system for 31 years. For the last ten years of her public school teaching career she taught drama pedagogy as a sessional instructor at the Faculty of Education, University of Windsor. Karen earned a number of specialists’ qualifications during her career in special education and the arts. Karen saw the importance of the process of drama in helping students develop self-esteem and self-confidence. She views the performance aspect of her work as part of the process of developing personal strengths in students that would benefit them in their careers and personal lives. It had been Karen’s dream to some day have her own dramatic arts school and to be able to nourish young minds and to foster “a life-long passion for the arts”.

Denise Dutkowski
Office Administrator

A longtime volunteer with The Space, Denise is now our office administrator. With over 25 years experience in the non-profit sector, Denise is a exciting addition to our team. A total “Spacer”, having seen her three grandchildren progressing through our programs over the past 5 years, she is enthusiastic about the benefits the program provides. Just don't get her started about how her grandchildren have flourished and how their confidence has increased dramatically (no pun intended). Denise will be at THE SPACE every Saturday during the programs or you may contact her Monday to Friday by e-mail or by phone. She will be pleased to assist you with any questions you may have.
